Ned Friedman, Director of [The Arnold Arboretum](https://www.arboretum.harvard.edu/), collaborated with Joseph G. Allen and Marc Lipsitch, Harvard School of Public Health, to write an article for [*The Washington Post*](https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2020/04/13/keep-parks-open-benefits-fresh-air-outweigh-risks-infection/) on the importance of public parks, botanical gardens, and arboreta during the COVID-19 pandemic. The faculty members spoke of best practices and reminded the world of the incredible importance of time in nature for mental health and well-being.

If you cannot access the online version, there is a [pdf of the article](https://oeb.harvard.edu/files/oeb/files/keep_parks_open_during_the_coronavirus._the_benefits_outweigh_the_risks._-_the_washington_post.pdf) without the images.
